A HOME FULL OF LITTLE MIRACLES: JEHOVAH JIREH ORPHANAGE AND MOTHERLESS BABIES HOME, ORLU, IMO STATE, NIGERIA

Some visits are remembered for what was given. Others are remembered for what was felt.
Our visit to Jehovah Jireh Orphanage and Motherless Babies Home in Orlu, Imo State, Nigeria, was one of those visits that stayed with us.

ARRIVING WITH SOMETHING TO GIVE

The PMJC team arrived at the home carrying more than just supplies. There were sacks of rice, boxes of noodles and biscuits, drinks, cooking oil, bottled water and other essential items prepared for the home.
The supplies were presented to the representatives of the home, who received them on behalf of the children and those under their care.
It was a simple act of giving, but we knew the day would be about more than what we had brought.

SHARING A LITTLE JOY

Before long, the children had their own little moment of joy.
Biscuits and drinks were shared among the children, bringing smiles and creating an opportunity for the PMJC team to interact with them.
There was something beautiful about seeing the children gathered together, enjoying these simple treats and spending time with the team. Sometimes, it is the smallest gestures that create the warmest memories.

TIME WITH THE CHILDREN

The visit continued with moments of interaction between the PMJC team and the children.
The team spent time with them, spoke with them and shared in their space. There were quiet moments, smiles and photographs that captured the connection formed during the visit.
For a while, the supplies were no longer the focus.
It was the people. The children. The moments shared. And the opportunity simply to be present.

THEN CAME THE LITTLE ONES

And then came the babies.
The atmosphere took on a different tenderness as members of the PMJC team held the little ones in their arms.
Some were awake. Others slept peacefully as they were carried and cuddled. Team members smiled, admired them and held them gently, taking in those precious moments.
One particularly touching moment showed a PMJC team member holding a baby close in what appeared to be a prayerful moment.
We may not know what words were spoken in that moment, but the picture captured something words cannot always express, a quiet desire for these little lives to be protected, cared for and surrounded by love.

WORTH MORE THAN SUPPLIES

As we look back at the photographs from that day, the sacks of rice, boxes of food, drinks and other supplies tell only part of the story.
The real story is in the smiles. It is in the children gathered around the team. It is in the little treats shared. It is in the tiny hands and peaceful faces of the babies being held. And it is in the moments of connection that remained long after the supplies had been handed over.
We went to Jehovah Jireh Orphanage and Motherless Babies Home with something to give. But we left carrying something of our own, memories of little lives, beautiful moments and a reminder that compassion can make an ordinary visit deeply meaningful.
Perhaps that is why, when we look back on this visit, one thought continues to stay with us:

A HOME FULL OF LITTLE MIRACLES.

May every child we encountered continue to grow surrounded by care, protection, opportunity and hope.
